Meet Odessa!!
Life has been so crazy since our baby girl arrived! A couple of days after bringing Odessa home Landon got the flu. Then a couple days later Odessa got sick. After a week of seeing our pediatrician every day (yes EVERY DAY) and being on the fence on wether to admit her or not, she is improving and we seemed to have made it through the bugs. Nonetheless, we have been living in baby bliss and are loving every second!
Fun facts about Delivery Day:
I kid you not, I think I was in labor for a week. I had contractions that were perfectly consistent but not painful enough. I had painful contractions, but then they weren't consistent. It was brutal!
Odessa was born on her due date, just like Landon!
We checked into the hospital right around 7am.
Shortly after arriving I had a visit from the anesthesiologist. I was numb as all get out and didn't feel a thing! Thank you epidural!
Turns out Odessa wasn't perfectly lined up to come out (this might have been why I was walking around at 5cm for a week with nothing). As soon as my Doctor rotated her slightly she literally came right out. No joke - I think I pushed twice and she was here!
My husband never left my side - except when it was time to go get Landon and introduce him to his baby sister. Didn't think it was possible to love him any more than I already did, but I do. Watching him with Odessa and Landon is purely magical!
Landon was the first one (except myself and Billy) to hold Odessa. He loves her! Loves to hold her! Loves to kiss her! And has become a real life baby monitor ;) "Mama, baby sister is hungry." "Daddy, go check baby sister." It's the cutest!
Eva, who is not only an amazing photographer but also one of the sweetest people I know, was in the room to capture the day, the birth and all the introductions to the family.
My delivery went so well, I got the go ahead from my Doctor to go home the very next day.
Odessa's pediatrician also cleared us to go home the very next day! Only a little over 24 hours spent in the hospital after she was born!
All in all it was a whirlwind and still is! I can't believe it has been three weeks already!
Photo's from the Birth Story and Newborn Session soon!
39 Weeks!
Into the 39th week! This is now the second pregnancy where I have been told to take it easy earlier in the pregnancy and then when the time comes to pick up activity there's nothing too exciting going on. Feeling good but also tired and really ready to not be pregnant anymore. Fortunately I know the end is very near and we'll be holding our baby girl in no time. In the mean time I am savoring each and every moment with this little guy as the days of him being my only baby are few :)
How far along? 39w3d
Weight gain: 16lbs
Sleep: Still not sleeping - between contractions, getting up to use the bathroom and just being downright uncomfortable I don't remember the last good night of sleep I've had :(
Maternity clothes: Yes
Best moment this week: Everything is done! Hair, mani/pedi, house is clean and organized, baby girls nursery is beyond precious and we officially have every little thing I can think of that we need (and probably more!).
Movement: She's still managing to move around but it's definitely cramped quarters in there. I'm betting she's going to weigh more than her brother did ;)
Food cravings: None
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still have good days and bad. Was REALLY sick the other night but as usual I woke up feeling okay in the morning.
Labor signs: Yes and lots! A couple of nights ago I had contractions every 5 min that were lasting a min plus... they actually got down to about 3.5 min apart but they were not intense. I'll get intense contractions but then just when I think they are worth timing they go back to being uncomfortable and not intense. Totally different than with Landon as I never felt any labor pains. I can not believe how different these pregnancies have been.
Stretch marks: Still can't find one :)
Belly button: Flatish
Happy or Moody? Ready to have a baby!
Looking forward to: Meeting this sweet girl!
37 Weeks & Full Term!
We made it!!! Can't believe baby girl will be here any day now!! Still waiting on her book case, slip cover for her glider/rocking chair and one more decor accessory for her nursery but other than that her room is done! I have pulled out all of the other necessities and have them ready for her to come home to. Now we're just waiting for her arrival :)
I have a doctors appointment on Monday so we'll see if there is any progression then. In the meantime there are still a ton of Braxton Hicks and a fair amount of actual contractions that don't lead to anything exciting :/ I have had a lot of energy and have been getting a lot done around the house. My OCD is thanking me!
How far along? 37 Weeks 1 Day
Weight gain: 15 lbs
Sleep: Still not sleeping very well. Between getting up to use the restroom and just not being comfortable there is not much sleep going on.
Maternity clothes: Yes, for now... but not for long!!
Best moment this week: Christmas!! I can't even begin to explain how much fun it is to have a toddler during the Holidays. I had so much fun watching Landon open his presents and getting so excited over all of his new toys. Can't wait until next year!
Movement: Yes! But she has definitely slowed down...
Food cravings: Still a hot cocoa with TONS of marshmallows every night but thats about it :)
Anything making you queasy of sick: Nope! Heartburn is gone and have been feeling great!
Labor signs: Lots of Braxton Hicks and there have been stretches of actual contractions but nothing that leads to anything exciting. I have a doctors appointment on Monday so we'll see where I am at then :)
Stretch marks: Still haven't seen one! I love my Mustela!
Belly button: Not an innie and not an outie...
Happy or Moody: Happy! Can't wait to meet our sweet girl and introduce her to all of our family and friends!
Looking forward to: Having all the Christmas stuff packed up and the house perfectly clean before baby girl gets here :)
Maternity Shoot
I can't even begin to explain how in LOVE I am with my maternity photos!! Last pregnancy it was summer, there were thousands of cute maxi dresses and skirts as well as summer and warm weather. This time around, on top of not feeling that great majority of the pregnancy there was little fashion to choose from that fit the season, fit the belly and was cute. I ended up getting really lucky after struggling to find something for months! I am so happy with the way everything turned out! And although we froze our butts off outside, we were able to get out during a break from the rain and get a few great images outside as well. As always, Eva Baker did an amazing job capturing these images!
36 Weeks!!
Seriously?? 36 Weeks?? I am not sure how we got here so fast?!
All has been crazy but all has been good! I had an amazing time at my baby shower and felt so much love for our sweet girl! I have been busy working in her nursery getting everything organized. All of her clothes have been washed and put away. I am waiting on a couple of things (bookcase, a slipcover for the chair and a few decor items) but other than that the nursery is done and is oh so INCREDIBLY sweet! I feel like I am pretty prepared but I'm sure there will be things we'll need. Landon is very excited! He loves spending time in his baby sisters room :) it melts me!!!
I have been feeling pretty good. Lots of energy in the morning but that slowly diminishes throughout the day, by 3-4:00 I'm done! Still have terrible restless legs and am waking up with unbearable leg cramps! Absolutely insane!!! At least the end is near!
How far along? 36 Weeks
Weight gain: 14 lbs (beyond weird and amazing all at the same time)
Sleep: Nope. Peeing every hour to hour and a half, restless legs = no sleep :(
Maternity clothes: Yes, of course.
Best moment this week: We went and took one last peek at our baby. It is so amazing to watch how much they change in gestation! Also doing all of her laundry. For some reason when I pull a bunch of sweet pastel clothes and blankets out of the dryer, folding and putting them away isn't that bad! Oh and a maternity shoot! I am in LOVE with all of the pics!
Movement: Yes!! This girl still moves a BUNCH!! And has some bizarre positions she likes to hang out in... like a leg coming out the side of my stomach.
Food cravings: Nothing really... still have hot cocoa with a bunch of marshmallows on it every night though :)
Anything making you queasy or sick? I've actually been feeling pretty good. No more heartburn so that has been nice!
Labor signs: Yes, at 35 weeks I was still completely closed. On Wednesday, 36ish weeks baby has dropped and I am dilated to 2cm. I have been having contractions but they are not regular. Although often, they are not painful - wouldn't call them comfortable but definitely not painful. Doctor is certain I won't make it to my due date but doesn't think she'll be here in the next few days either. We'll see!
Stretch marks: Not a one!
Belly button: Not an outie and not an innie lol
Happy or moody: Happy! And even happier the end of this pregnancy is near!
Looking forward to: CHRISTMAS!!!! I have a two year old who gets Santa and loves presents, the tree, lights and loves to bake with me. I know that's not what the holiday is all about but it sure is fun seeing it through a toddlers eyes! I can't wait for Christmas morning!!!
Also, my mom, brother, sister in law and nephew will be here with us as well - which adds to the fun of it!
34 Weeks
I was kind of hoping time would slow down just a little bit, but no. I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed with everything I still want to get done before this little bundle makes her debut... but I still have six-ish weeks so hopefully I can get it all done!
All of her furniture is here except for one piece which is backordered, but the important stuff is here! One full load of baby girl clothes has been done and I'm figuring out what I want her to wear while in the hospital and her "going home" outfit.
This weekend is my baby shower!!! I am so excited to see everyone and celebrate this sweet, sweet little girl!
How far along? 34 Weeks
Weight gain? 13 lbs
Sleep: Sleep?? What is that?? Between the awful heartburn, peeing ALL THE TIME and not being able to get comfortable it almost seems like a lost cause :(
Maternity clothes: Yes
Best moment this week: Enjoying the crazy stormy weather, watching movies and cuddling with my little boy :)
Movement: Still a lot of movement even though I can tell she is running out of room. I felt hiccups for the first time last night - weird since I felt them way earlier with Landon... not that I'm complaining ;)
Food cravings: I might have a hot cocoa with a boat load of marshmallows on it every night but not sure if I would call that a craving or normal...
Anything making you queasy or sick? I have my good days and bad. I usually take something for the nausea a couple of times a week but now I'm mostly just tired. Exhausted!!
Labor signs: Not really...
Stretch marks: Searching but haven't seen one :)
Belly button in or out? Still an innie.
Happy or moody? Christmas is right around the corner! How can I be anything but happy?!?!
Looking forward to: My baby shower this weekend and spending time with friends and family!
